Franklin Fire Hall No. 2
Location: Franklin, TN
Size: 14,300 SF
Services: Architecture, Interior Design and Engineering
City of Franklin Fire Station No. 2 included a significant expansion and remodel of the existing facility. The original fire station was a renovated residential building with the addition of a two-bay apparatus hall. The project required the addition of four new apparatus bays and the replacement of all existing support spaces while maintaining a 24/7 response from the facility. This effort was accomplished in two phases and at no time was the station out of service.
The fire station is located on a high profile site along heavily traveled Highway 96 in the eastern portion of the City. The station is approximately 14,300 square feet and supports a shift of fifteen firefighters. Adequate parking for shift changes was also in the project scope. The station is 100% functional during power failures.
The owner desired an attractive building that fit within the context of the surrounding properties but was also an accessible public building. The project site was complex and required significant coordination with numerous entities within the City of Franklin and the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
