PROJECT:

State Route 840 From SR 46 to Thompson Station Williamson County, TN

This 11 mile section of SR 840 in Williamson County was split into two construction projects due to the magnitude of the project. After completion of the CSD (Context Sensitive Design) process in 2005, a portion of the project was
realigned.

Section 1 - From West of Leipers Creek Road to West of Columbia Pike

The project consists of 7.9 miles of a 4 lane divided highway with controlled access and an interchange at SR 246. Right-of-way plans were originally issued in 2000. The project was realigned in 2006, and a new set of plans were
completed in 2008. In addition to environmentally sensitive issues, it also included excavation of pyritic rock. This project is currently under construction with a contract value of $87 million.

Section 2 - From SR 46 to West of Leipers Creek Road

This project consists of 3.1 miles of a 4 lane divided highway with controlled access. An environmentally sensitive
feature included a crossing over the Natchez Trace Parkway. Right-of-way plans were issued in 2000, the project was
realigned in 2006, and new plans were completed in 2008. It is scheduled to be in the December 2009 TDOT letting.

Estimated construction value is $40 million.
