NASA Michoud Assembly Facility

• Following Hurricane Katrina, Hart Freeland Roberts was part of a team that restored production at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, which produces the external fuel tanks for the space shuttle.
• Working with the Corps of Engineers, Vanguard Contractors, I.C. Thomasson Associates and others, HFR engineers assessed over 30 buildings, developed a scope of work for each, and inspected all repairs.
• The project required HFR engineers to interface contemporary materials and construction techniques with materials and techniques dating back to the 1920s.
