Following Hurricane Katrina, Hart Freeland Roberts was part of a team that restored production at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, which produces the external fuel tanks for the space shuttle.
Working with the Corps of Engineers, Vanguard Contractors, I.C. Thomasson Associates and others, HFR engineers assessed over 30 buildings, developed a scope of work for each, and inspected all repairs.
The project required HFR engineers to interface contemporary materials and construction techniques with materials and techniques dating back to the 1920s.
